Discussion and Forecast for 3/10/09

Over the past weekend, most of New England finally got a nice taste of warmer weather. However, that was short lived, as snow and cooler temperatures moved into the region on Sunday night and Monday. The general area cleared out a bit today with temperatures in the low to mid 40s for most of the [...]

Another Snow Storm for New Hampshire

Another developing winter storm is bearing down on New England, looking to bring more snow and freezing precipitation to the New Hampshire area. Overall, the storm does not look like a blockbuster, but should be enough to bring moderate to heavy snowfall to the area. Accumulations look to mainly occur overnight, with the heaviest snow [...]

Storm Review and Weekend Forecast

Looking back at the snowstorm this week, its kinda hard to imagine that the past two winters have been the bulk of the snow that I have seen in Plymouth. It’s beginning to feel old. We tend to sink into a pattern where we are affected by 2-3 storms per week as the upper levels [...]

Another Update

Good Morning!
This storm continues to look more and more interesting in its evolution through the models. The newest products suggest that we will see between 1 inch and 1.25 inches of liquid equivalent. If you use the standard 10:1 ratio of snow to liquid (10 inches of snow to 1 inch of water) you get [...]

Update

Making a quick update to the forecast from earlier today. It is looking to be a bit more potent than it was before. The National Weather Service (NWS) has upped their accumulation totals for this storm. Upon review of the newest models, I have upped my accumulation totals for the storm to 9-13 inches.

Winter Storm Brewing

This week has started to take shape, and the zonal pattern looks to break for the area by mid-week, ushered out by a potent snowstorm Tuesday – Wednesday of this week. Most of the dynamics for the storm show potential for snowfall totals in central NH to be in the range of 6+ inches. Unfortunately, [...]

Quick Note

Another cold morning here in Central New Hampshire, with temperatures in Plymouth reaching -9 F on top of Boyd Science Center and -14 out at Plymouth International Airport. Berlin, NH made it to -24 F last night.
On a personal note, I skied at Tenney Mountain yesterday, so here is a plug for them. Cost Effective, [...]

Weekend Outlook

Looking back at the first few days of this week, I did a much better job with the forecast for the non-snowstorm days (no surprise there) and things are looking a bit calmer for the remainder of the week. A small disturbance looks to bring snow showers to the mountains and the surrounding areas on [...]

Saturday Morning

Good Morning! Once again, the temperature plummeted last night, reaching a low of -22 F at about 7:15 AM. We should start to break out of the stretch of incredibly cold temps over the next day or so, but part of the reason for this is our next snow event is bearing down on New [...]

Quick Update

I busted the low forecast for last night, but just about everyone around here did. The low at the airport hit -27 F and the top of Boyd hit -20 F. I’ll post more about the weekend weather later today. Till then, Stay Warm!
