Community Collaborative Rain, Hail, and Snow Network (CoCoRaHS)

One of the things that limits meteorologists the most when it comes to forecasting is the number and quality of observations being taken at any given time. While there are thousands of observation stations around the United States, the number of stations is greatly outweighed by the population density of the country. In many areas, [...]

Update

Making a quick update to the forecast from earlier today. It is looking to be a bit more potent than it was before. The National Weather Service (NWS) has upped their accumulation totals for this storm. Upon review of the newest models, I have upped my accumulation totals for the storm to 9-13 inches.

Winter Storm Brewing

This week has started to take shape, and the zonal pattern looks to break for the area by mid-week, ushered out by a potent snowstorm Tuesday – Wednesday of this week. Most of the dynamics for the storm show potential for snowfall totals in central NH to be in the range of 6+ inches. Unfortunately, [...]

Weekend Outlook

Looking back at the first few days of this week, I did a much better job with the forecast for the non-snowstorm days (no surprise there) and things are looking a bit calmer for the remainder of the week. A small disturbance looks to bring snow showers to the mountains and the surrounding areas on [...]

Saturday Morning

Good Morning! Once again, the temperature plummeted last night, reaching a low of -22 F at about 7:15 AM. We should start to break out of the stretch of incredibly cold temps over the next day or so, but part of the reason for this is our next snow event is bearing down on New [...]

Cold Weather Freezes the Northern United States

Brutally cold air has made its way into the Northeast, bringing dangerously cold conditions to the Northeast. Temperatures rebounded nicely today from morning lows in Plymouth of -13 F at Plymouth Airport. Tonight looks to be a bit more dangerous with even lower temperatures  than the previous night. Winds should go calm tonight, allowing temperatures [...]

Welcome

Welcome to my new blog for forecasting and weather discussion. Hopefully this will become a live page linked to http://scatterednorm.net very soon. For the moment, I will do my best to update at least once a week with forecasts for the upcoming week, beginning on October 23rd. These forecasts will serve the Northeast part of [...]
